Himachal Pradesh University: Student groups clash in Shimla

Violence broke out between members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the Students' Federation of India (SFI) at Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) in Shimla on Saturday morning. The confrontation, which began as a verbal argument near the university's main gate, escalated into a physical clash involving punching and shouting.

Initial reports suggest the dispute may have been triggered by disagreements over displaying banners or slogans during student welcoming activities. Several students from both groups sustained injuries and were sent to the hospital for medical treatment.

Local police arrived at the scene to control the situation and have deployed additional forces across the campus to prevent further unrest. University administration and law enforcement are currently investigating the exact cause of the conflict and are reviewing complaints from both organizations.
