Himachal Pradesh weather: IMD issues thunderstorm warning
Heavy rainfall has hit the Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, leading to a drop in temperatures and a shift toward colder weather in the region. The weather change has brought a wintry feel to the hills, affecting outdoor activities.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a five-day warning for thunderstorms and lightning at isolated locations across Himachal Pradesh. This weather pattern is driven by an active Western Disturbance and cyclonic circulations, including an upper air cyclonic circulation over Haryana and a Western Disturbance acting as a cyclonic circulation over Himachal Pradesh.
Forecasts indicate scattered rainfall across the state until October 13, with precipitation expected to intensify into fairly widespread rain on October 14 and 15. The activity is predicted to recede to isolated areas by October 16 and 17. Recent reports noted hailstorms and thunderstorms in areas such as Sarahan, Palampur, and Sundernagar.
