Himanshu Das arrested in Odisha for Rs 40.94 lakh misappropriation

Odisha Vigilance arrested Himanshu Das, the former Managing Director of Betnoti Large Area Multi‑Purpose Cooperative Society (LAMPCS) Ltd. in Mayurbhanj district. The investigation found that during the 2017–18 financial year Das collected about Rs 40,94,306 from loanee farmers for agricultural loans, share capital, fees and charges, but failed to record the receipts in the society’s Day Book and allegedly diverted the money for personal use.

A case (No. 12, dated 30 July 2026) has been filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 409 of the Indian Penal Code. Das, dismissed from government service in April 2022, has been produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada, and the investigation remains ongoing.
