Himara recovery efforts continue after catastrophic fires

Following catastrophic fires in Himara, southern Albania, local authorities and national agencies are working to stabilize the region and assess the damage. Himara Mayor Vangjel Tavo has been conducting field inspections alongside the National Civil Protection Agency and Minister for Relations with Parliament Erjona Ismaili to meet with affected residents.

The fires resulted in the destruction of six homes, three of which were inhabited, and forced the evacuation of 36 people from the ‘1 Maji’ neighborhood. While road traffic has returned to normal, priority efforts are focused on restoring electricity and water supplies to the damaged areas. Municipal teams are currently documenting all losses to ensure affected families receive necessary support.
