Himchan Hospital experts warn against ignoring frozen shoulder
Medical experts from Himchan Hospital are warning that frozen shoulder, or adhesive capsulitis, should not be ignored even if pain appears to subside. While the condition often improves over time, a reduction in pain does not necessarily mean that shoulder function and range of motion have fully recovered.
Orthopedic specialist Yoo Sun-yong noted that patients must check for accompanying conditions, such as rotator cuff diseases or cartilage and ligament issues. If conservative treatments like warm compresses, physical therapy, medication, or injections fail to resolve severe stiffness or limited movement, surgical intervention may be required.
Surgical treatment is typically performed via arthroscopy, a procedure that takes approximately 15 minutes to treat inflammation and adhesions within the joint. This approach can improve both pain levels and the range of motion, often allowing patients to return to daily activities the following day.
