Himekami releases collaborative album with Shohoji Temple

Musical unit Himekami has released a collaborative album titled ‘Enzu Kanso’ in partnership with Shohoji, a historic Soto Zen temple located in Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture. This release serves as the second installment of the group’s 45th-anniversary project.

The 25-track album is divided into two sections. The collaboration section features electronic music inspired by seven local legends and traditions of Shohoji, integrated with synthesizer sounds and Buddhist chanting. The second section, the chanting section, contains recordings of sutras captured within the temple’s Hodo hall to preserve the atmosphere of the historic space.

In conjunction with the album release, a music video for the track ‘Juryo no Kobo feat. Shohoji ~Myoho Renge Nyorai Juryo Hon’ has been made available. Additionally, a concert titled ‘Shohoji 700 Years of Prayer: Zen for Peace of Mind’ is scheduled to take place at the temple’s Hodo hall on September 26, 2026.
