Himesh Reshammiya credits Salman Khan and David Dhawan for career breakthroughs
Music composer Himesh Reshammiya has credited Bollywood actor Salman Khan and director David Dhawan as pivotal figures in his transition from television to film music.
Speaking on the ‘Game Changers: The Music Series’ podcast hosted by Komal Nahta, Reshammiya noted that he was established as a successful television producer before Khan encouraged him to pursue cinema. Reshammiya stated that without Khan providing a break, he might not have chosen to enter the film industry.
He also highlighted the role of David Dhawan, who reportedly finalized all songs for the film Dulaara within 15 minutes, enabling Reshammiya to work as a solo composer. This opportunity led to further collaborations with Ratan Jain and Abbas-Mustan. Reshammiya also reflected on the creative process for the film Tere Naam, noting the decision to create a brooding, Devdas-like character for the lead role.
