Himi City and Fukui Prefecture launch relief efforts after heavy rain

Local governments in Japan are initiating relief efforts following heavy rainfall and flooding in the Hokuriku region.

Himi City in Toyama Prefecture has begun accepting donations to assist with damage caused by recent heavy rains. Contributions can be made via bank transfer to Hokuriku Bank or in cash at the Himi City Hall accounting department.

In Fukui Prefecture, Governor Takato Ishida announced an emergency support package for the Reihoku region. The plan includes disaster relief payments of 100,000 yen for households experiencing above-floor flooding and 20,000 yen for those with below-floor flooding. Applications for these payments will begin on September 7 and require a disaster victim certificate.

Additionally, the prefecture is offering financial support for businesses and farmers. This includes expanded access to management stability loans for affected companies and interest-free agricultural management support loans of up to 5 million yen for repairing facilities or purchasing equipment. The governor indicated plans to propose a supplementary budget to expedite these measures.
