Hims & Hers Health prepares for peptide product launch
Hims & Hers Health plans to offer certain legally available peptides by the end of the year, including NAD+, sermorelin, and glutathione. These substances are used for metabolic function, weight loss, and immune support. While the company aims to expand its offerings, Wall Street analysts expressed caution, suggesting these specific products may not significantly drive revenue growth in the current year.
The peptide market is estimated to be worth between $2.2 billion and $3.3 billion. However, many treatments currently lack FDA approval, and there is ongoing debate regarding the loosening of restrictions on compounding these treatments. While some political figures have criticized existing restrictions, FDA staff have maintained that there is insufficient evidence to support easing the rules.
Hims & Hers Health, which operates a prominent U.S. compounding pharmacy, has also begun stability and validation testing for BPC-157, a peptide used for tissue repair. Analysts note that because many peptides are currently traded through unauthorized or grey markets, assessing the exact market value of new offerings remains difficult.
