Hindu festivals Sharadiya Navratri and Sharad Purnima scheduled for October 2026

Major Hindu festivals, Sharadiya Navratri and Sharad Purnima, are scheduled for October 2026.

Sharadiya Navratri will begin on Friday, October 15, 2026, and conclude on Sunday, October 24, 2026. The festival involves nine days of worship dedicated to Goddess Durga. The auspicious time for Kalash Sthapana (installation of the sacred pot) on October 15 is from 6:14 AM to 7:58 AM. Devotees observe fasts and engage in spiritual practices to seek health and prosperity.

Sharad Purnima will be observed on Sunday, October 25, 2026. According to the Hindu calendar, the Purnima तिथि begins at 11:55 AM on October 25 and ends at 9:11 AM on October 26. This night is significant for the worship of Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi, and the Moon. A common tradition involves placing rice pudding (kheer) under the moonlight overnight, as it is believed the moon's rays impart medicinal or nectar-like qualities to the food.
