HKH Parliamentarians pledge regional cooperation on climate resilience
Parliamentarians from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Pakistan have committed to strengthening regional policy and collaboration to address climate change impacts in the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region. During a meeting in Thimphu, Bhutan, leaders emphasized the need to translate scientific data into political action and budgetary support to protect the fragile mountain ecosystems.
The urgency of this cooperation follows devastating flooding in the Rashuwa district of Nepal near the China-Nepal border. In response to the humanitarian crisis, various Nepali political parties, including the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Nepali Congress, and CPN UML, have coordinated relief efforts. These organizations have deployed teams for search, rescue, and the provision of essential supplies, such as medicine and food, to those affected by the floods.
