Hindu temple demolition in Pakistan sparks protests in Jammu

Protests were held in Jammu by the Rashtriya Bajrang Dal following the demolition of a century-old Hindu temple in Siraj village, Pakistan. The group has called on the Indian Central Government to pressure Pakistan to reconstruct and restore the site.

Conflicting accounts exist regarding the cause of the demolition, which reportedly occurred on August 21. A minority rights group and members of the Rashtriya Bajrang Dal allege the temple was deliberately razed to allow an adjoining madrasa to expand its land. However, the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) claimed the structure collapsed due to heavy rainfall.

Protesters expressed concerns regarding the treatment of Hindu minorities in Pakistan, alleging a pattern of targeting religious sites and atrocities against the community.
