Hindu temple in Ohio attacked with bricks
The Shree Swaminarayan Vadtal Dham Hindu Mandir in Richmond Heights, Ohio, was attacked with bricks on Friday afternoon. The incident, which occurred around 1:30 PM, resulted in significant damage, including shattered windows. Priests and devotees were present inside the temple at the time of the assault.
The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) and the Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) have characterized the incident as a possible hate crime. HAF stated that surveillance footage is being reviewed by authorities and that the FBI and civil rights agencies have been alerted. Advocacy groups have called on law enforcement to prioritize the investigation and have urged elected officials to condemn hateful rhetoric against the Hindu American community.
The attack occurred during Hindu Heritage Month and shortly before the Navratri festival. CoHNA noted that this incident follows a pattern of documented vandalism and hostility toward Hindu religious sites in the United States.
