Hinduja family tops UK Rich List 2026 with £38 billion fortune

The Hinduja family retained its position as the wealthiest household in the United Kingdom, topping The Sunday Times Rich List 2026 with an estimated £38 billion net worth. The figure marks a rise from £35.3 billion the previous year and represents the fifth consecutive year the family has led the ranking.

The list shows the combined wealth of the UK’s 350 richest individuals and families increasing by 1.4 % to £784 billion – roughly a quarter of the nation’s annual GDP. There are now 157 UK billionaires, down from a peak of 177 in 2022, while the entry threshold fell to £340 million. Robert Watts, compiler of the list, noted a “tale of two exoduses”: one‑sixth of entries from two years ago have dropped out, and many foreign billionaires have left the country, raising questions about future tax revenue and job creation.

Among the year’s notable movers were Nik Storonsky, co‑founder of Revolut, and Alex Gerko, founder of XTX, whose fortunes each rose to around £16 billion after major fundraising rounds. Both have renounced Russian citizenship and become UK nationals, publicly opposing the invasion of Ukraine.
