Hindustan Zinc reports over 50% growth in digital metal commerce

Hindustan Zinc Limited has reported a significant increase in digital metal commerce, with its Vedanta Metal Bazaar (VMB) platform recording over 50% year-on-year growth in transaction value during the first half of FY27.

Launched in 2022 as India’s first online metal marketplace, the platform facilitates end-to-end procurement, including live pricing, order placement, payments, and shipment tracking. The company noted that digital transactions on the platform also increased by more than 40% during the same period.

CEO Amarendu Prakash stated that the platform aims to provide smarter, more efficient procurement processes to support India’s manufacturing growth, particularly benefiting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The digital ecosystem currently serves customers across more than 500 cities in 23 Indian states.
