Hino Motors launches updated Blue Ribbon and Rainbow route buses

Hino Motors has launched updated versions of its Blue Ribbon large route bus and Rainbow medium route bus, focusing on enhanced safety, environmental performance, and driver convenience.

Safety upgrades include the standard inclusion of a front blind spot monitor and intersection collision warnings to detect pedestrians and cyclists. The vehicles also feature an electronic parking brake (EPB) integrated with a driver abnormality response system (EDSS), which automatically engages the brake if a driver becomes incapacitated. Additionally, a wheel detachment warning system has been implemented to detect abnormal rotation caused by loose wheel nuts.

To improve environmental efficiency, Hino optimized the 5.2-liter inline 4-cylinder diesel turbo engine's combustion and intake/exhaust systems. Combined with low-rolling-resistance tires, the Blue Ribbon model in the 14-to-16-ton category exceeds the 2025 Japanese heavy vehicle fuel efficiency standards (JH25) by 5%.

For improved usability, the driver's cockpit now features a 7-inch meter display and steering wheel-mounted controls. The buses also utilize an ambient air intake air conditioning system to enhance cabin ventilation.
