Hinojosa del Duque inaugurates new municipal dog shelter

The Hinojosa del Duque City Council has officially inaugurated its new municipal canine shelter. The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor Matías González and members of the local government.

Mayor González emphasized that the project aims to provide a dignified space for animals and expressed gratitude to the staff and volunteers. Santiago Jesús Aranda, the Councilor for the Environment, described the facility as a necessary resource and a moral obligation for the community.

The shelter is intended to serve as a transitional space to promote responsible adoption. To facilitate this, the municipality will launch an official social media platform next week to share profiles and photographs of the animals. Citizens interested in volunteering can register through the City Council. Officials also issued a call for responsible pet ownership to prevent increased abandonment rates from impacting the shelter's long-term sustainability.
