Hip-hop artists Sheff G and Tory Lanez remain incarcerated

Several prominent hip-hop artists are currently serving prison sentences or awaiting legal proceedings.

Brooklyn drill rapper Sheff G, born Michael Williams, is serving a five-year sentence following a guilty plea to two counts of second-degree attempted murder and a conspiracy charge. The charges were linked to a gang indictment involving the 8 Trey Crips and 9 Ways gangs. His incarceration is expected to continue until approximately 2030.

Tory Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, remains imprisoned after being sentenced to 10 years for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. He was convicted by a Los Angeles jury in December 2022.
