Multiple urban culture festivals are scheduled to take place in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, this Saturday, August 22.
In São Carlos, the fifth edition of the Hip Hop Salva Festival will be held at the Santa Felícia skate park. The event features music, dance, art, and sports, including breaking, graffiti interventions, and a Best Trick skateboarding challenge. Musical performances include Maria Preta, GonSalves, Lincoln Rossi, Quity, and DJs Mahin and Selectah Lioness. The festival also hosts the Copa Anticolonial H2S freestyle competition and a solidarity economy fair for local entrepreneurs.
In Marília, the 6th edition of Hip Hop Week will take place at the São Miguel Square skate park. The event covers the five elements of hip-hop culture: DJing, MCing, breaking, graffiti, and knowledge. Confirmed attractions include MC Soffia, Pecaos, MC Joliee, and DJ Custela. The event has been part of Marília's official event calendar since 2012, and local authorities are currently working on updating legislation to establish permanent funding and governance for the celebration.
