HIP-Petrohemija announces 15 million euro capital renovation

HIP-Petrohemija has announced a capital renovation project involving an investment of approximately 15 million euros. The works are scheduled to take place between September 21 and November 18.

The primary objectives of the investment and renovation are to improve production processes and increase the reliability of the facilities. This reliability is considered critical for the entire NIS refining complex due to the technical and technological connection between HIP-Petrohemija and the Pančevo Oil Refinery.

During the renovation, 28 specific projects will be implemented, including extensive work on key equipment. Key focus areas include two high-pressure steam production boilers in the Ethylene plant and the reconstruction of steel structures in the synthetic rubber finalization building in Elemir. Approximately 620 external contractors will be engaged alongside company employees.

Production will be suspended during this period: operations in Pančevo will halt on September 21, while the synthetic rubber factory in Elemir will stop on September 30. A restart is planned for November 18. The company noted that intermittent flames from flares and increased noise levels are expected during the shutdown and restart phases as part of standard technological processes. Sufficient stocks of petrochemical products have been secured to ensure steady market supply.
