Hirokazu Kore-eda directs manga adaptation ‘Look Back’

Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda has released ‘Look Back’, a live-action adaptation of the manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto. The film focuses on the lives of school-aged children, specifically centering on Fujino, a student who finds success drawing comics at school until she is challenged by the emergence of a reclusive classmate named Kyomoto.

The narrative explores themes of friendship and competition as Fujino becomes increasingly obsessed with maintaining her status as the best artist in her class, sometimes at the expense of her personal relationships.
