Hiroko Moriguchi shares personal reflections on late grandmother

Singer Hiroko Moriguchi shared a personal reflection on social media regarding her late grandmother in observance of Respect for the Aged Day.

Moriguchi recounted a memory from her time as a middle school student when her grandmother visited from Munakata, Fukuoka. During the visit, her mother encouraged her to sing for her grandmother. While Moriguchi performed the first two songs, she refused a third encore request, feeling reluctant due to her adolescent temperament. She noted that her grandmother appeared disappointed by this refusal.

Shortly after this encounter, her grandmother passed away unexpectedly. Moriguchi expressed deep regret over her behavior during that final interaction, stating that the memory of her grandmother’s disappointed expression remains vivid. She concluded that this experience taught her to always sing with her whole heart, regardless of the circumstances, and expressed her gratitude for her grandmother’s love.
