Hirosaki Park hosts Chrysanthemum and Autumn Foliage Festival
The Hirosaki Castle Chrysanthemum and Autumn Foliage Festival is scheduled to take place from October 30 to November 8, 2026, at Hirosaki Park. The event features approximately 1,100 maple trees and 2,600 cherry trees displaying autumn colors.
A central highlight is a massive flower art installation depicting Byakko, the White Tiger, one of the four guardian deities. The artwork, measuring 14 meters wide and 5 meters high, was created through a collaboration between flower artist Yoshie Abe, Neputa craftsmen, and local citizens. The installation utilizes traditional Tsugaru bamboo basketry techniques for its details and will be accompanied by nightly projection mapping.
Other attractions include the ‘Ponpon Mum Garden’ made of yarn, apple-themed floral displays, and a bamboo lighting area featuring objects made from bamboo sourced from Kanayama Castle ruins. A chill area offering bonfire warmth, coffee, and craft beer will also be available.
