Hirosaki University Hospital Pediatric Center marks two years of operation

The Pediatric Medical Center at Hirosaki University Hospital in Aomori Prefecture has completed two years of operation since its full launch in October 2024. The center provides comprehensive medical care across multiple specialties, including pediatrics, pediatric surgery, and pediatric cardiovascular surgery.

To support hospitalized children, the facility has implemented measures to maintain educational environments, such as a dedicated booth for high school students to attend online classes within the hospital's in-patient classroom. Future plans include expanding support for accompanying families, with the development of a dedicated rest area expected as early as next fiscal year.

Center Director Kuninori Terui noted that challenges remain regarding the environment surrounding hospitalized children. Moving forward, the center aims to focus on initiatives to support siblings of patients who remain at home.
