Hiroshi Abe and Ren Nagase to star in film ‘Happy List’

The official trailer, additional cast, and theme song have been released for the upcoming film ‘Happy List’, scheduled for release on February 5, 2027. Starring Hiroshi Abe and Ren Nagase, the original story was inspired by interviews with medical professionals and individuals regarding the realities of long-term psychiatric hospitalization.

The plot follows Taro Egawa (Abe), a 59-year-old man re-entering society after 40 years of psychiatric hospitalization, and Kota Misaki (Nagase), a 24-year-old welfare department employee struggling to find purpose in life. The two form an unlikely friendship through a ‘to-do list’ designed to help Taro achieve his long-held wishes. The narrative also touches upon the social implications of long-term psychiatric care in Japan.

Additional cast members include Taizo Harada, Saori Tomo, Renji Ishibashi, and Rie Tomosaka. The film’s theme song, ‘Shiritai’, will be performed by the rock band odol.
