Hiroshi Fujioka attends ‘The Odyssey’ event despite ankle injury

Actor Hiroshi Fujioka attended a special screening event in Tokyo for the dubbed version of the film ‘The Odyssey’ on the 21st. Despite suffering a sprain to his left ankle after an old injury flared up during martial arts training, the 80-year-old actor participated in the event while seated.

Fujioka was joined by his four children—Maito, Tenjo, Amane, and Mai—forming a full ‘Fujioka family’ appearance. The group discussed the film, which is based on Homer’s epic poem and directed by Christopher Nolan. Fujioka expressed deep emotional resonance with the protagonist Odysseus, noting the themes of family responsibility and the universal nature of the story.

His children also shared their impressions, with Maito noting his connection to the character Telemachus and his sisters describing how moved they were by the depiction of family bonds. The event also featured the film’s Japanese voice cast, including Hiroaki Hirata, who provides the voice for Matt Damon.
