Hiroshi Nakatsuji of Nippon Ishin no Kai being considered for cabinet post

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is reportedly coordinating the appointment of Hiroshi Nakatsuji, Secretary-General of Nippon Ishin no Kai, to the cabinet during a reshuffle scheduled for September 17. This move marks a shift for Nippon Ishin no Kai, which has previously provided cooperation from outside the cabinet.

Nakatsuji, a three-term member of the House of Representatives, brings practical administrative experience from his previous roles as a member of the Osaka Prefectural Assembly and Mayor of Hirakata. While he is considered relatively unknown in national politics, his appointment aligns with Prime Minister Takaichi’s stated policy of prioritizing ability. The specific ministerial post, potentially related to regulatory reform, is subject to the Prime Minister’s final decision.
