Hiroshima culinary traditions showcased at Tokyo promotional event

A promotional event titled ‘Delicious Meddling’ was held at the Hiroshima Brand Shop TAU in Ginza, Tokyo, to showcase the culinary traditions and unique eating habits of Hiroshima Prefecture.

Comedians from the duo Uncles appeared as ‘Osekkai-zu’ to discuss local specialties. The event highlighted various regional preferences, such as the debate between using soba or udon noodles in Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, and the popularity of toppings like squid tempura or mochi.

Other regional delicacies discussed included grilled oysters paired with Hiroshima lemons and ‘gansu’ (fried fish paste) served with shichimi mayonnaise. The initiative is part of the ‘OK!! Hiroshima’ project, which collected over 1,000 community recommendations regarding local food culture.
