Hiroshima holds memorial services for 2014 landslide victims

Memorial services were held in Hiroshima to mark the 12th anniversary of the 2014 Hiroshima landslides, a disaster that claimed 77 lives. At Bairin Elementary School in Asaminami Ward, a flower-laying ceremony was conducted at a monument inscribed with the names of 68 local victims. Hiroshima Mayor Matsui attended the ceremony, stating that the city remains committed to using the lessons from the heavy rain disaster to build a more resilient community.

Survivors and bereaved family members gathered to honor the deceased, with some expressing enduring grief during the commemorations.
