Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum assault leads to woman's arrest

A 33-year-old woman, Nao Aoyama, was arrested by Hiroshima Prefectural Police for allegedly assaulting a visitor at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on September 7 in the museum's main exhibition area.

The victim, a 36-year-old woman, was reportedly struck in the face multiple times. While the victim did not sustain injuries, Aoyama has reportedly admitted to the assault. Both the suspect and the victim were travelers from outside the prefecture and had no prior acquaintance. Reports suggest the altercation may have been triggered by a dispute regarding the sound of a child's voice.

The museum remained open following the incident, stating that no exhibits were damaged and there was no impact on other visitors. This event follows previous concerns regarding museum management, as a recent survey indicated that 88.9% of visitors felt that overcrowding hindered their experience.
