Hiroshima Toyo Carp announce new coaching staff for 2027 season
The Hiroshima Toyo Carp have announced several key appointments to their coaching staff for the upcoming seasons. Former player Kosuke Tanaka will return to the organization as the second-team infield defense and base running coach starting in the 2027 season. Tanaka, a former stolen base champion, previously left the team before announcing his retirement from active play in early 2026.
Additionally, Takaaki Matsumoto has been appointed as the first-team infield defense and base running coach. Matsumoto, a former utility player for the Carp, currently serves as the first-team public relations officer. Ryuji Ioka will take on the role of third-team pitcher development coach and analyst. Ioka, who contributed to the team’s three consecutive league championships, has been working as a club analyst since his retirement in 2023.
