Hiroyuki Isobe receives acclaim for acting debut in NHK drama

Hiroyuki Isobe, the bassist for the rock band [Alexandros], has received widespread acclaim for his acting debut in the NHK Taiga drama ‘Toyotomi Kyodai!’. Playing the historical figure Chosokabe Motochika, Isobe’s performance in the 36th episode has surprised viewers, many of whom were unaware of his acting capabilities due to his primary career in music.

The episode depicts pivotal moments in the unification of Japan, including Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s ascent to the position of Kanpaku. In a key scene, Hideyoshi’s brother, Hideyoshi, manages to sway Chosokabe Motochika to accept submission to the Hashiba forces through a symbolic gesture involving a garment.

Following the broadcast, Isobe shared his reflections on Instagram, expressing gratitude to his fellow cast members and describing the experience as emotionally intense and stimulating. Viewers have reacted with praise, noting that his performance was seamless for a first-time actor.
