Hiroyuki Miyasako discusses finances and career comeback
Former comedian Hiroyuki Miyasako has shared details regarding his financial shifts and potential career resurgence. In a recent YouTube appearance, Miyasako addressed rumors of earning 1 billion yen annually, dismissing them as false. He revealed that during a period of unemployment, he continued to pay 2.8 million yen in monthly rent for his restaurant, ‘Gyu-no-Kijo’, which significantly depleted his savings that had previously reached several hundred million yen.
Miyasako noted that his current income is approximately five times less than what he earned during his peak as a comedian. He also discussed the structural differences in his finances, noting that while his previous earnings were split with his agency, Yoshimoto Kogyo, he now manages his own office and must cover employee salaries.
In a separate video featuring entrepreneur Takafumi Horie, Miyasako discussed strategies for a professional comeback. Horie suggested that Miyasako should pivot toward acting rather than comedy, recommending that he produce short dramas for platforms like TikTok and Netflix to rebuild his reputation and attract industry offers. This follows Miyasako's departure from mainstream television after a 2019 controversy.
