Hirving Lozano joins LA Galaxy from San Diego FC

Mexican forward Hirving Lozano has joined LA Galaxy from San Diego FC on a loan deal through December 2026, which includes an option for a permanent transfer. The 31-year-old arrives as a Designated Player, a role intended to make him a central figure for the club during the latter part of the season.

Lozano’s move follows a period of inactivity at San Diego FC. According to the MLS Players Association, Lozano is set to earn a base salary of $6 million per year, supplemented by $9,333,333 in guaranteed compensation. This high-value contract makes him one of the league’s top earners, significantly exceeding the compensation of other notable players like Marco Reus.

LA Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz noted that the club had attempted to sign the former Napoli player three years ago, describing the move as ‘closing a circle.’ Lozano previously played for clubs including Pachuca, PSV Eindhoven, and Napoli, where he won the Serie A title.
