Hirving Lozano Near Transfer to LA Galaxy from San Diego FC

Reports indicate that Major League Soccer club LA Galaxy is close to finalising a deal to acquire Mexican winger Hirving “Chucky” Lozano from San Diego FC. The 31‑year‑old would join the Galaxy as a Designated Player, with a guaranteed salary of about $9.33 million for 2026, making him the fourth‑highest paid player in the league. San Diego FC would retain responsibility for a portion of his wages while granting Lozano permission to negotiate.

Lozano has not trained with San Diego’s squad since the 2026 season began and has not featured in a professional match since November 2025 after a dispute with manager Mickey Varas. San Diego sporting director Tyler Heaps confirmed the club is still working with Lozano’s representatives. LA Galaxy hope the signing will bolster their push for a playoff spot in the 2026 MLS season.
