Hisatsu Orange Railway to resume full service on October 13

Hisatsu Orange Railway has announced that full service on the line between Yatsushiro and Sendai will resume on October 13. This follows the completion of repairs on the section between Yatsushiro and Higo-Taurura, which had been suspended due to damage caused by the ‘Reiwa 8 Kumamoto Earthquake’.

Damage from the earthquake included track deformation, broken overhead lines, and damage to passenger platforms. While the resumption of service will allow the replacement bus service between Yatsushiro and Higo-Taurura to end on October 12, the railway noted that some service reductions will continue due to a shortage of train drivers.
