Mini LED and RGB LED TV shipments forecast rapid global growth

Market research firm Omdia projects that worldwide shipments of Mini LED TVs will rise from just under 18 million units in 2026 to nearly 30 million by 2030, while RGB LED TV shipments are expected to increase from 1.1 million to 7.1 million units in the same period. The share of RGB LED models in global TV revenue is forecast to reach 13 % by 2030, up from 3 % in 2026. China is set to account for a substantial portion of this growth, with Omdia estimating 1.04 million RGB LED units and 10.4 million Mini LED units shipped in 2030. The high brightness of Mini LED panels—exceeding 5 000 nits—makes them well‑suited for HDR content and bright‑room viewing, while the lower cost compared with OLED and Micro LED helps avoid burn‑in risks.

Industry players are showcasing the technologies in new products. Hisense unveiled its E8S Pro TV featuring a dual‑core AI picture chip and a 4K 170 Hz refresh rate at a recent esports event. LG introduced the MRGB95B Micro RGB TV, which uses separate red, green and blue LEDs for brighter, more colorful images and supports high‑refresh‑rate gaming modes. A US‑based retailer will host a TV Shootout event in July 2026, pitting flagship OLED models from LG, Samsung and Sony against Micro RGB MiniLED TVs, with judges evaluating contrast, color fidelity and motion resolution.

Consumer guides in Bulgaria and Poland compare Mini LED and OLED options, noting Mini LED’s superior brightness and price‑to‑performance for bright rooms, while OLED remains the choice for deep blacks and wide viewing angles. Overall, the trend points toward rapid adoption of Mini LED and RGB LED displays as manufacturers seek high‑quality, cost‑effective alternatives to OLED.
