Hisense releases RGB‑Mini‑LED monitor in China; LG debuts ultra‑bright Micro‑RGB TV
Hisense introduced the 32UX, a 32‑inch monitor that uses RGB‑Mini‑LED backlighting. The panel offers 4K resolution, 180 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness up to 2 000 nits, with 2 304 dimming zones and full BT.2020 colour coverage. Priced at about 9 999 yuan (≈ 1 300 EUR), it is sold only in the Chinese market for now. The company positions the display as an OLED‑like alternative that avoids burn‑in, though the technology cannot match OLED’s per‑pixel black levels and its 180 Hz rate trails the 240 Hz of competing OLED gaming monitors.
LG’s new 75‑inch MRGB96 television, tested in Germany, employs a Micro‑RGB LCD backlight that places red, green and blue LEDs in groups of three across the panel. This design yields record brightness – measured up to 4 300 nits in small areas and around 1 000 nits across the whole screen – and a wide colour gamut covering almost all of BT.2020. The TV weighs 50 kg and costs significantly more than typical LCDs. While its black levels are deeper than standard LCDs, they remain above OLED performance, and the extreme brightness can cause visual artefacts in dark rooms.
