Hispania Nostra adds Cádiz New Customs building to Red List

The New Customs building (Aduana Nueva) in Cádiz has been added to the Hispania Nostra Red List due to the threat of demolition. Although the mid-20th-century structure has been part of the Andalusian Historical Heritage since 2009 and remains in excellent condition, a proposal by the Regional Delegation of the Ministry of Culture suggests removing its protected status.

The declassification aims to facilitate the rehabilitation of the nearby former railway station, which is intended for use as a venue for hospitality and congresses. Designed in the 1950s by architect Manuel Ródenas López, the building serves as a delegation for the Tax Agency and features a monumental facade and an art deco mural representing the arrival of the Phoenicians in Cádiz.
