Hispania Nostra recognizes 269 Spanish heritage sites on Green List
Hispania Nostra has released its ‘Lista Verde’ (Green List), recognizing 269 cultural and natural sites across Spain that have successfully moved from the ‘Lista Roja’ (Red List) of endangered heritage due to effective conservation efforts.
Castilla y León leads the country in this achievement, with 88 sites included in the Green List. Notable examples from the region include the Monasterio de Santa María de Rioseco in Burgos, the environment of the Fortaleza Califal de Gormaz in Soria, and the Palomar de Carrascal del Duero in Zamora. The inclusion of the Rioseco monastery highlights the impact of crowdfunding and citizen involvement in heritage preservation.
In Menorca, the enclave of Punta Nati in Ciutadella has also been recognized as part of this national list, marking a successful recovery of the island's cultural heritage.
