Hispanic audiences drive 19.1% of U.S. streaming consumption

A Nielsen report reveals that Hispanic audiences in the United States accounted for 19.1% of all streaming minutes during the first half of 2026. Out of more than 2 trillion total minutes of television watched by the Hispanic community, 1.2 trillion were via streaming platforms.

Despite English-language programming outnumbering Spanish-language content by a ratio of nine to one, Spanish-language content still represented 42% of linear television viewing time for Hispanic households. The study highlights a strong linguistic connection among younger demographics, noting that 77% of Hispanic Gen Z individuals speak some Spanish at home.

Consumption patterns vary significantly by age: 88% of Hispanic children aged 2–11 watch television via connected devices, while adults aged 65 and older average nearly 45 hours of weekly viewing, primarily on linear channels. The report also notes the high engagement with unscripted content and specific cultural programming, such as Telemundo’s ‘La Casa de los Famosos’ and Netflix specials.
