Hispanic Heritage Month 2026 celebrations feature community highlights

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) is observing Hispanic Heritage Month 2026. As part of the observance, the organization is highlighting community members through previously published interviews and articles.

One featured profile includes author Gerardo Sámano Córdova, who discusses his work within the horror genre. Córdova describes his writing as queer, monstrous, and playful, noting that he uses familiar Mexican cultural spaces to ground his characters before exploring extreme themes. He observes that the horror genre is currently seeing an influx of diverse creators globally, particularly in Latin America, which is expanding the boundaries of the genre.
