Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations feature art and lowrider car shows
Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations are underway, featuring various cultural events across the United States. At El Camino College, a kick-off event held on September 3, 2026, included live music from the group ‘Jalepeno Peppers’, educational workshops, and a lowrider classic car show. The car show featured vehicles from groups such as the Westside Classic car club and Loyal Alliance, highlighting lowriding as a form of cultural expression and Chicano history.
Additionally, the ECC Art Gallery has launched an exhibit curated by student Sophia Cervantes. The collection, which runs until October 15, showcases artworks by Latino students, alumni, and community members focusing on themes of identity, cultural traditions, and resistance. The Schauerman Library is also supporting the month by featuring works by Hispanic authors.
