The Armidale Blues held on to the Bushy Shield, overtaking St Alberts College to take the outright lead in the New England Rugby Union ladder. The match, which determined the minor premiership race, ended controversially when play was halted early in the second half after a scuffle and multiple yellow cards. Blues winger Clancy McDermott broke through a scrum to score a decisive try, putting the score at 12‑5 before the interruption.

Acting captain Angus Smith accepted the shield in a brief post‑game presentation. The victory marks the Blues' third consecutive Bushy Shield retention and positions them within three rounds of the season’s final stretch. Earlier games saw injuries, including two players hospitalised after a head‑knock in third grade, underscoring the physical intensity of the competition.
