Historic Dutch Agricultural Collection Relocated to Groeikas Elburg

Approximately five thousand historic agricultural tools and household objects, gathered by collector De Bruijn from Putten, have been transferred from storage at the Oude Meul in Ermelo to a new home at Groeikas Elburg. The move, carried out in a single day with the help of volunteers, staff from ’s Heeren Loo and a 13‑metre truck, was organised after the Ermelo municipality halted plans to display the items in a museum.

Initiated by Jan Blom of Groeikas Elburg, the collection will become part of the organisation’s “Belevingstuinderij” project, aiming to combine nature, food, education and history so visitors can experience pre‑mechanisation gardening life. The artefacts, many dating from the era of hand‑powered, horse‑assisted farming, will be housed in a greenhouse‑style setting to inspire awareness of self‑sufficiency and seasonal living.
