A fire broke out in the early hours of 30 July 2026 at the historic Renaissance Schloss Wallhausen in the district of Mansfeld‑Südharz, Saxony‑Anhalt, Germany. The castle, which operates as a hotel, restaurant and cultural venue, was heavily engulfed, with the roof and upper floor fully alight.

Around 124 firefighters from Wallhausen and surrounding municipalities were deployed to fight the blaze. Guests, staff and other occupants were evacuated without injuries. Police asked nearby residents to keep windows and doors closed and to switch off air‑conditioning systems. The cause of the fire remains unknown. The protected castle has been privately owned since 2005 and was originally constructed between 1606 and 1613 by the von der Asseburg noble family.
