Historic tenement buildings in Poland undergo renovation

Several historic tenement buildings in Poland have undergone or are slated for significant renovation to preserve their architectural heritage while updating their functionality.

In Płock, a historic building dating back to approximately 1870 at Sienkiewicza 51 is being transformed into 20 modern apartments. The project, managed by Inwestycje Miejskie, is funded at 85 percent by the Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego's subsidy fund. The renovation will involve a complete interior reconstruction to create a three-story building with an attic, while maintaining the original historical facade and window arrangements. Residents are expected to move in during the first quarter of 2028.

In Poznań, the renovation of a Secession-style tenement at Matejki 50 has been completed. Built between 1905 and 1908 for architect Max Johow, the building serves public functions, including local administrative offices. The recent works, costing nearly 200,000 PLN, focused on restoring the exterior facade, stucco details, and balconies, as well as improving basement insulation and restoring historical light wells.
