Historical 1929 tramway decree for Beykoz uncovered

Research conducted at the Republic Archives of the Presidency of State Archives has revealed a historical Cabinet decree dated June 12, 1929. The document, which bears the signature of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, details plans for electric tramway lines intended to extend through Üsküdar and Kadıköy to Beykoz and Anadolu Feneri.

Beykoz Deputy Mayor Özlem Vural Gürzel noted that the discovery provides a historical connection to the ongoing Beykoz Metro Project. Gürzel stated that the 97-year-old plan for rail transport underscores a long-standing need for improved connectivity in the region and expressed a commitment to realizing the modern metro project in line with the historical vision.
