Historical and cultural landmarks in Greccio and Rome

The medieval village of Greccio, located in the province of Rieti at an altitude of nearly 700 meters, serves as a significant historical and spiritual site. It is famously known as the birthplace of the first living nativity scene, created by Saint Francis of Assisi in 1223. The area features the Sanctuary of the Hermitage of Greccio and the International Museum of the Nativity Scene.

In Rome, guided tours are highlighting the architectural and historical significance of the Gianicolo hill. Key sites include the San Pietro in Montorio complex, home to Bramante’s Tempietto—a Renaissance masterpiece of harmony and proportion—as well as the Fontanone dell'Acqua Paola and Piazzale Garibaldi.
