Historical anniversaries of Benyamin Sueb, AH Nasution, and Princess Diana

September 5 and 6 mark several significant historical anniversaries. On September 5, 1995, the legendary Betawi artist Benyamin Sueb passed away in Jakarta at age 56. He was a prolific entertainer with over 75 music albums and 53 films to his credit.

Also on September 5, 2005, Mandala Airlines Flight RI 091, a Boeing 737-200, crashed in Medan, North Sumatra, shortly after takeoff from Polonia Airport. The accident resulted in 100 fatalities among the 117 people on board, and 49 people on the ground were also victims.

On September 6, 2000, Indonesian national hero and former Army General Abdul Haris Nasution died in Jakarta at age 81. He was a prominent figure in the Indonesian National Armed Forces and a survivor of the September 30 Movement kidnapping attempt in 1965.

Additionally, on September 6, 1997, Princess Diana was buried in Althorp, Northamptonshire, following her death in August. She was the first wife of Prince Charles and the mother of Prince William and Prince Harry.
